Dark skies made the crowd of 2488 at Coliseum Gonzalito el increible a little nervous, but the rain held off. Maximilian Strieder was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Mark Holmstrup and Răzvan-Gabriel Mot. Gonusso decided to use a 2-5-3 set up. Starters: Sazan - Henchoz, Pisman - Beune, Loir, Palmentieri, Brasil, Aruta - Ruiz Llera, Robbiati, Roselló.

Siberia had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Drąsutis - Gudajevas, Bonkevičius, Jelizovas - Semialjac, Yang, Breitenstein, Spiegelberg, Veden - Staronis, Stukāns.

Gonusso seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. Siberia used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. 8 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but F. Breitenstein, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. Siberia took the lead 10 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle. Ž. Jelizovas was the scorer. After 11 minutes, J. Beune got through on the right and was very close to equalising for the home side, but didn't get the shot away. Siberia had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. After 16 minutes, Siberia's P. Spiegelberg burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 2. After this, you could see that the players of Siberia were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. Gonusso refused to be intimidated and, breaking through the middle, L. Brasil managed to slip the ball home for 1 - 2. Siberia's F. Breitenstein made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 29 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, L. Brasil got himself booked. The manager of Gonusso was not happy. 1 - 2 was the score after the first half. Siberia enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 77 percent of possession.

L. Brasil behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 47 minutes as he gave the ball away to F. Breitenstein. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. It was obvious that team Siberia had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. After 52 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave A. Staronis a chance to increase the lead for Siberia, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 3. 58 minutes into the game, Siberia were awarded a penalty and L. Veden was able to increase the visitors' lead to 1 - 4 rolling the ball in by the right post. After 68 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for A. Yang who increased Siberia's lead to 1 - 5. After 69 minutes, Gonusso's C. Aruta fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit! After 71 minutes, Gonusso switched S. Henchoz with M. Planell, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. Siberia players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. The visitors' P. Spiegelberg took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 76 minutes into the match. 1 - 6 for Siberia. Ž. Jelizovas received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 83 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 7. The Siberia fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. Siberia had most of the ball, with 75 percent of possession.

Most important Gonusso player was J. Roselló. However, R. Sazan made a disastrous appearance. L. Veden performed admirably for Siberia. V. Gudajevas on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 7.
