previous 2/10 next 4/10  Economist 9 - 0 SJ (393955436)

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 246 to Cloakas. Konradas Skalauskis was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Falke Thestrup and Mark Krasiy. Economist started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Krol - Longoria, Akasoy, Grajal - Omeya, Hurtado, Görtzke, Bokri, Plaiz - Caramaño, Almendras.

SJ tactics involved an interesting 5-5-0 combination. They fielded: Xixons - Rubí, Urgaçi, Stips, Carreras Serra, Ramírez de Mora - Drejer, Cameselle, Gomucio, Belleri, Delbrück -.

SJ preferred to finish off their attacks from a distance. A. Krol would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. R. Temez entered the game for Economist as the match clock showed 1 minutes. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to D. Almendras, but the Economist player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! Things were going to get worse for the visitors. D. Almendras squirmed through their central defence after 28 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0. J. Omeya was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was blocked by the keeper. However, Economist's R. Caramaño managed to get hold of the rebound and tucked the ball into the empty net. 3 - 0 A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Economist's R. Grajal increasing the lead to 4 - 0. After 34 minutes, Economist's T. Akasoy found the back of the goal with a beautiful free kick. 5 - 0. Confident in their lead, Economist's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. It was 5 - 0 at the break. Economist claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 62 percent.

R. Caramaño left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 46 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. S. Rubí was the replacement. Some things can only be learned through experience, and A. Belleri should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Economist a goal with 58 minutes of the match played. S. Rubí had a fantastic opportunity to put Economist up another goal 74 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. F. Longoria increased the lead for Economist to 6 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! Given a free kick close to the byline, Economist tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let S. Görtzke slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 7 - 0, 78 minutes into the game. 79 minutes into the match T. Akasoy put Economist ahead 8 - 0 with a truly marvelous free kick. R. Grajal of Economist was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. T. Akasoy struck a 30 metre free kick home 85 minutes into the match. 9 - 0 for the home team. At that, T. Akasoy was noted down for a hat trick! With 86 minutes gone, Economist's R. Grajal had to leave the pitch after talking back to the referee and receiving his second booking. Economist had most of the ball, with 59 percent of possession.

Economist's top performer was clearly D. Almendras. T. Akasoy was a disappointment, however. The most dominating SJ player was without a doubt E. Cameselle. E. Stips on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 9 - 0.
