previous 4/10 next 6/10  Mesztéláb 2 - 1 Darazsak (393960882)

It had rained all day, but 70034 hardy fans still made it out to Ökörjáró. Volker Beran-Lyde was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Virgil Istrate and Uzi Nissan. A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Mesztéláb. Starters: del Arroyo - Da Silva, Humbert, De los Cobos, Possebon - Villaraud, Otoya, Rasilla, Cleton - Sauerma, Barbieri.

Darazsak had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Fernández - McGrath, Pogány, Varjas - Kaldenecker, Tessarolo, Dezső, Létai, Magyar - Ährenfeld, Carul.

The wings were the focus of most of Darazsak's attacks today. It was obvious that Darazsak had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. 23 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but O. Pogány, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. V. Carul slipped and slithered in the wet grass. His usual rapid runs were nowhere to be seen today. After some beautiful movement down the left wing, J. Sauerma scored for Mesztéláb putting them ahead 1 - 0, after 34 minutes. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Mesztéláb to 2 - 0 as I. Villaraud finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. After this, you could see that the players of Mesztéláb were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 0. Mesztéláb had most of the ball, with 55 percent of possession.

Darazsak needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 70 minutes K. Ährenfeld made way for S. Barnabás. The bench was restless, and with 70 minutes passed Darazsak's coach gave Z. Eszes the opportunity the player had been hoping for. E. Tessarolo reluctantly left the field. I. Varjas was handed the Darazsak captain's armband. With 79 minutes played, Mesztéláb's J. Humbert almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. Mesztéláb's I. Rasilla was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 81 minutes. After 86 minutes of play, Darazsak's I. Varjas unexpectedly struck an inside out ball from no angle at all and V. Carul slotted it into the net for 2 - 1. Under heavy pressure after 89 minutes, the inexperienced Mesztéláb struggled to maintain their level of play. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Mesztéláb, with 53 percent of the ball.

Most important Mesztéláb player was I. Rasilla. R. De los Cobos on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Darazsak player was without a doubt V. Carul. Z. Eszes was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 1.
