previous 5/10 next 7/10  Percoke 4 - 2 Mezzeseghe (393963305)

Clouds darkened the skies at Kookaburra Stadium as 1332 spectators turned up for the match. Michel Leithäuser was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Theo Herr and Friedel Grurl. Percoke started off with a 5-3-2 lineup. Starters: Onnis - Merico, Rigato, Eler, Clemente, Maese - Ruggeri, Pilloni, Damiani - Correzzola, Driussi.

Mezzeseghe had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. They fielded: Siekierski - Palit, Silvestroni, Scarano, Balbiano - Osmanković, Maechler, Papalino, Laureti, Young - Consiglio.

Mezzeseghe were relying on their ability to counter-attack. 1 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Percoke substitution. T. Lorito came on for O. Onnis. F. Maese caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 18 minutes. This gave Percoke the 1 - 0 lead. 28 minutes into the game, A. Rigato had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came J. Šlapák. G. Pilloni unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. With 30 minutes gone, M. Balbiano suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing when a counterattack by Mezzeseghe caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring. 34 minutes into the game, S. Young finished off a Mezzeseghe left wing counterattack, making the score 1 - 1. Percoke had a good opportunity to take the lead as A. Ruggeri came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of A. Siekierski. R. Clemente received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 38 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score. 39 minutes into the match and the home team took a 2 - 1 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Percoke was R. Clemente. 40 minutes into the game, Percoke seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to solid. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Percoke, with 64 percent of the ball.

During the break, Percoke's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to solid organisation. With 60 minutes played, Percoke put themselves up 3 - 1 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to J. Šlapák, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. Mezzeseghe's M. Balbiano was shown a yellow card after 66 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The bench was restless, and with 70 minutes passed Mezzeseghe's coach gave G. De Angeli the opportunity the player had been hoping for. D. Consiglio reluctantly left the field. A. Siekierski became the new Mezzeseghe captain. R. Driussi left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 70 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. F. Correzzola was the replacement. Percoke were given a gift! The ref dubiously awarded them a penalty 70 minutes into the match, which was neatly put away by U. Eler. 4 - 1 for the home side. After 75 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Percoke found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to inadequate. The visitors got a chance to pulling one back after 77 minutes, due to a defensive blunder leaving A. Palit completely unmarked. His strike was pathetic though, easy prey for the home side's keeper. 84 minutes in, Percoke appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only poor. Morale on the visitors' bench was greatly improved when their K. Laureti reduced the lead to make it 4 - 2 after 86 minutes, following a pass from the right. Percoke enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 58 percent of possession.

G. Pilloni performed admirably for Percoke. However, T. Lorito made a disastrous appearance. Mezzeseghe's best player was G. De Angeli. On the other hand, N. Papalino's play was disheartening. The match ends 4 - 2.
