previous 1/8 next 3/8  RealCasalta 2 - 0 Warriors (393997273)

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 1874 at El Olímpico de Casalta III today. Kenan Pekin was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Mattias Apelblom and Fredrik Håkansson. RealCasalta tactics involved an interesting 5-4-1 combination. The following players had been chosen: Valen - Murillo, Ribeiro, Mariño, Prieto, Verdi - Windesheim, Midtgaard, Villechenous, Tonheim - Świerzbiński.

Warriors decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Toni - Peehi, Ong, Murugan - Huis in 't Veld, Borsos, Caron, Kıymet, Krug - Azzan, Saidi.

Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for RealCasalta. RealCasalta took the lead 30 minutes in, as F. Windesheim broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. With 31 minutes played, N. Caron of Warriors fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. Content with how the game was proceeding, the RealCasalta coach let J. Varga replace S. Villechenous after 33 minutes. S. Ribeiro should probably have put his team up another goal after 40 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by A. Toni kept the visitors in the game. The counterattack by RealCasalta resulted in a free kick that A. Mariño bent under the crossbar - 2 - 0! J. Delgado was called on to replace RealCasalta's K. Midtgaard after 43 minutes following a nasty collision. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 0. RealCasalta had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.

Warriors needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 46 minutes A. Ong made way for S. Aranha. S. Aranha was the new captain of Warriors - handed the armband by the departing player. F. Windesheim wanted to play on, but the RealCasalta coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 47 minutes into the game by H. Kradzītis. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave C. Peehi from Warriors a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 55 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Still trailing on the score board, Warriors adjusted their tactics after 60 minutes. H. Kıymet had a quick chat at the side line, then switched positions with R. Huis in 't Veld. Sensing defeat in the air, the Warriors manager directed I. Borsos and G. Krug to change positions with each other. This was 60 minutes into the match. Possession in this half belonged to RealCasalta, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.

M. Prieto performed admirably for RealCasalta. L. Świerzbiński on the other hand, had a terrible day. Warriors's best player was A. Azzan. However, C. Peehi made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 0.
