FCG 1 - 1 ARM (394018251)

Due to an all-day shower, 2007 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Bloodground. Christian Kornemann was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Deddy Sakti and Tom Pettersen. FCG had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation. The following players had been chosen: Schlieder - Silcher, Hoeltzenbein, Korsten, Rosseel, Heiter - Pichelmann, Wetzhausen, Heppenheim, Sehnert - Zacha.

A 5-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for ARM. Lineup: Ciempiel - Devizzi, Larocca, Celanova, Binggeli, Torin - Macri, Aguado, Dömötör, Örjansson - Jablonski.

It was an obvious ambition of FCG to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. H. Zacha, who often relies on his speed, had a rotten day on the drenched grass. B. Torin had a good try after 7 minutes, coming in on a fine move from the left, but the ball went wide. R. Aguado was having a great game - if anything the pouring rain seemed to be spurring him on! H. Zacha made a nice dash down the wing after 30 minutes, but was unable to get the cross into the box. A goal kick was awarded. The visitors could have taken the lead from a free kick after 39 minutes, if it wasn't for the jaw-dropping save by M. Schlieder. The visiting F. Macri was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 40 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. Halftime score was 0 - 1. ARM enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 63 percent of possession.

The crowd chanted their encouragement as FCG's R. Heppenheim came in from the right after 58 minutes and put the ball in the net to level the score at 1 - 1. D. Carrica was called on to replace FCG's P. Pichelmann after 82 minutes following a nasty collision. Attacking on the wings was the choice for FCG, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack. Players in FCG heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. M. Schlieder looked great 88 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors' F. Macri. ARM had to make a substitution after 89 minutes. J. Örjansson limped off the field and was replaced by M. Megna. Possession in this half belonged to ARM, who controlled the ball 62 percent of the time.

Most important FCG player was D. Carrica. G. Rosseel was a disappointment, however. J. Jablonski performed admirably for ARM. M. Celanova turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 1.
