previous 2/10 next 4/10  Pelouque 2 - 1 Orange (394096109)

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Stadium Arena de la Pelouque saw a crowd turnout of 2052. Ask Thomasen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Constantijn Nooren and Peter Ekening. A 4-3-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Pelouque. The following players took the field: Rikunov - Bäckman, Kaiser, Archer, Guillot - Hazenoot, Karu, Le Tiec - La Face, Hildebrandt, Steenackers.

Orange started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Starters: Dziwała - Krústev, Smalcerz, Songurtay - Fehr, Ralević, Lauritzen, Sandholm, Raguž - Jaša, Brčina.

Today, Pelouque's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks. Orange were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. E. Fehr had a good opportunity to give Orange the lead as he charged down the right and struck the ball towards the top corner, but the home team's goalkeeper made the save. J. Karu was in the clear after breaking the offside trap following a Pelouque counterattack from the left after 29 minutes. His neat finish made the score 1 - 0. H. Le Tiec sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from J. Karu after 31 minutes of play, making the score 2 - 0. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Pelouque lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. 33 minutes into the match, Orange replied and reduced the lead to 2 - 1. K. Brčina scored on a marvellous cross pass coming in from the left. It was 2 - 1 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Orange, with 70 percent of the ball.

Some things can only be learned through experience, and G. Lauritzen should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Pelouque a goal with 72 minutes of the match played. It was obvious that Orange had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. Orange enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 70 percent of possession.

Pelouque's top performer was clearly P. Bäckman. A. Rikunov was a disappointment, however. G. Lauritzen performed admirably for Orange. On the other hand, S. Raguž's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 1.
