previous 1/10 next 3/10  RWWL 4 - 0 pamuspor (394125556)

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Günter Tomaszewski Arena saw a crowd turnout of 2113. Abel Oomen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Patrik Öhrtorp and Walt Zijp. RWWL tactics involved an interesting 5-3-2 combination. The following players took the field: Moroni - Cankılıç, Matjussi, Chapelet, Mini, Balduit - Gorbatenko, Halem, van der Harst - Baumann, Cioabă.

A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for pamuspor. The following players had been chosen: Ürgüç - Cangini, Mahser, Saygı, Özbil - Perrucci, Mossop, Lurquín, Wolfgruber, Burgos - Merdi.

RWWL displayed their ability to play creatively. A well placed corner kick from P. Cioabă was followed by E. Cankılıç's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for RWWL, the score now 1 - 0. I. Wolfgruber received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 8 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score. RWWL increased the lead as D. Baumann struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. Halftime score was 2 - 0. pamuspor claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.

Cheers filled the stadium as D. Baumann broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 0 to RWWL. By now, the players in RWWL felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. 79 minutes in, RWWL's A. Gorbatenko received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. pamuspor's J. Burgos went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention. A. Lurquín of pamuspor received a yellow card after 87 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Having just succeeded in blocking a dangerous counter attack, the defending team was outwitted by the follow-up RWWL free kick. The routine was expertly executed as the ball was shifted quickly to one side of the box, then back to the other. A. Gorbatenko appeared on cue near the post, and steered it past the goalie. 4 - 0, after 88 minutes. A. Gorbatenko should probably have put his team up another goal after 89 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by Ş. Ürgüç kept the visitors in the game. Possession in this half belonged to RWWL, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.

Most important RWWL player was J. Mini. J. Chapelet turned in a dismal performance, however. pamuspor's top performer was clearly K. Merdi. P. Cangini was a disappointment, however. The match ends 4 - 0.
