The 2664 fans in attendance at Fortuna Arena were roasting in the hot sun. Ville Lahdenmaa was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Teodor Voinea and Ard Claren. Forty had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Tamminen - Leganer, Fröber, Ebeling - D'Angelo, Martusciello, Boswell-Ellbogen, Hohenstaufen, Jugel - Kruus, Fagerin.

Maege decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Starters: Chabrier - Romain, Huggler, Bricaud - Questel, Capoferri, Eckmann, Maille, Widler - Ripaud, Mane.

After a fine move down the middle L. Hohenstaufen nearly gave the home side a goal after 7 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. J. Ripaud made a nice dash down the wing after 9 minutes, but was unable to get the cross into the box. A goal kick was awarded. Maege's D. Romain got himself booked for a foul. C. Boswell-Ellbogen was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Forty's S. Krummer had to come off the bench. A questionable penalty 35 minutes in gave the home side the lead, 1 - 0. The visitors' goalie didn't stand a chance as E. Ebeling knocked the ball home. After 37 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and A. Kruus gave the Forty supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Forty lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. 39 minutes in, Forty's M. Leganer received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. J. Ripaud of Maege had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game. L. Blaine came in to finish the match. 2 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Forty, who controlled the ball 69 percent of the time.

55 minutes were showing on the scoreboard when Maege's D. Romain received his second yellow card and was sent off. M. Jugel could have increased the lead after 64 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. Forty's S. Krummer was shown a yellow card after 70 minutes for slicing down an opponent. As usual, B. Capoferri tried to use his strength and hard work for the benefit of the team, but the heat hit him hard and he couldn't keep pace at all. Forty's C. Fröber swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. The intense heat forced E. Ebeling into making some errors because he couldn't seem to keep up with the others. Forty enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 71 percent of possession.

Most important Forty player was S. Krummer. E. Ebeling turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Maege player was without a doubt N. Chabrier. On the other hand, B. Maille's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 0.
