It was an obvious ambition of Pakers to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. For their match strategy, Poznański had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Pakers, with 53 percent of the ball.

J. Krieger was having a great game - if anything the pouring rain seemed to be spurring him on! O. Łątka was just a finger's breadth away from an equaliser for Pakers with a strike from the left, but B. Giro managed to ward the shot off for a corner. 63 minutes in, Pakers's O. Łątka received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Poznański were forced into a substitution as M. Gibson couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing H. Alt to come in off the bench. L. Siegrist could have scored for Pakers with his free kick after 69 minutes, but the visitors' keeper just managed to get a hand on it. Pakers were able to draw a foul with their counterattacks, but the shot from L. Siegrist went into the arms of the keeper.
