The 1099 fans in attendance at
Ghetto were roasting in the hot sun.
Ninos Gkekas was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Joakim Christiansson and
Raúl Miralles.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Mupet.
The following players had been chosen: Häkämies - Pajunoja, Mäki-Välkkilä, Tenno - Ahonen, Linkola, Kekki, Kuusimurto, Vesalainen - Solórzano, Ramstadius.
KuTa decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
They fielded: de Alcântara - Dahlberg, Hopea, Henttonen, Karpouzopoulos - Tsirel, Belső, Himanen, Lundberg - Liimatta, Nicola.
KuTa tried to focus their attacks down the middle.
They were singing the praises of
B. Solórzano 6 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Mupet.
With 30 minutes played,
T. Kekki could have brought this one home for Mupet as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high.
The sun seemed to put
A. Karpouzopoulos in a great mood, and he showed off his technical skills all match long.
35 minutes into the game, Mupet were awarded a penalty that
O. Mäki-Välkkilä turned into 2 - 0 without a problem.
KuTa had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks.
S. Himanen showed why he is feared on the counterattack, breaking through in the middle and scoring for KuTa after 38 minutes to make the score 2 - 1.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Mupet to 3 - 1 as
A. Kuusimurto finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
With 42 minutes played,
K. Ramstadius of Mupet fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
3 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Possession in this half belonged to Mupet, who controlled the ball 64 percent of the time.
With 63 minutes played, Mupet put themselves up 4 - 1 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
B. Solórzano, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
By now, the players in Mupet felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
K. Vesalainen wasn't much help defensively. His energy-consuming forward runs proved quite costly in the oppressive heat.
The home side's
T. Kekki came close to extending the lead 74 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but
E. de Alcântara managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop.
KuTa breathed new life into the game with an opportunity to reduce the score after 78 minutes, but the home side's defenders cleared the ball on the line, after a long shot coming in from the left rebounded off the crossbar.
KuTa's
S. Lundberg was shown a yellow card after 79 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
K. Vesalainen's speed was almost enough to give Mupet a goal after 83 minutes, but his nice pass to
K. Ramstadius was not taken care of properly.
Mupet had most of the ball, with 64 percent of possession.
Most important Mupet player was
O. Mäki-Välkkilä.
J. Pajunoja turned in a dismal performance, however.
The most dominating KuTa player was without a doubt
D. Nicola.
E. de Alcântara on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 4 - 1.
