previous 2/10 next 4/10  loyola 0 - 5 Liverstar (394198600)

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 4223 had shown up at loyola cf Arena for the match. Ronald Orth was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Dries Sommeling and Boris Dobrev. loyola tactics involved an interesting 4-3-3 combination. Lineup: Tacuba - Mondragón, Scabini, 荣齐 (Rongqi) , Oyuela - Hostia, Pidatella, Reyes - Giraldo, Echeverry, Guevara.

Liverstar started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Decker - Robert, Kolber, Betti - Ivandzikau, Bustos, Najdawi, Heer, De Neve - Whenham, Grims.

The wings were the focus of most of loyola's attacks today. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, P. Heer got himself booked. The manager of Liverstar was not happy. Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 15 minutes into the match, and A. Betti wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 0 - 1 for the visitors. After 16 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as loyola found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to poor. Liverstar's N. Bustos was shown a yellow card after 22 minutes for slicing down an opponent. A loud groan was heard from the fans of loyola, as G. Scabini left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match. C. Rojas took his place on the field. The loyola captaincy was handed to C. Rojas. 31 minutes into the game, loyola seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to poor. A drive down the left side allowed J. Kolber to get in close and score another goal for Liverstar after 34 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 2. After 38 minutes a well-practised indirect free kick routine by Liverstar was easily anticipated by the defenders. The players forward were so well marked, they were left with few viable options. C. Giraldo almost seemed to dance around R. Najdawi, his movements were so smooth. Unfortunately for loyola, his finish ended up on the wrong side of the post. 40 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 3 as D. Grims finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. By now, the players in Liverstar felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. It was 0 - 3 at the break. Liverstar enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 83 percent of possession.

The loyola players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a passable organisation when the game started again. After 46 minutes, loyola switched S. Echeverry with M. Rodríguez, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, loyola's A. Pidatella was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 46 minutes. A. García de Sobresaca was given a chance to change things around. After 48 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave N. Bustos a chance to increase the lead for Liverstar, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 4. The home crowd was not impressed when P. Heer came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 55 minutes. Liverstar were now up 0 - 5. After 70 minutes of game time, A. Robert had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but B. Tacuba was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner. With 71 minutes gone, C. Hostia suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing when a counterattack by loyola caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring. 81 minutes in, loyola appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only inadequate. Liverstar had most of the ball, with 77 percent of possession.

loyola's top performer was clearly C. Rojas. B. Tacuba turned in a dismal performance, however. D. Grims performed admirably for Liverstar. However, P. Heer made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 5.
