previous 1/10 next 3/10  FC.Dnepr 0 - 5 falkarna (394203645)

Clouds darkened the skies at Dnepr Stadion as 2640 spectators turned up for the match. Wisi Pncet was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Roger Kennedy and Emanuele Cicogna. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for FC.Dnepr. They fielded: Divanenko - Mihelič, Pappens, Shved - Tovkatskiy, Poloni, Alventosa, Carrera, Karikh - Islamov, Olaru.

falkarna tactics involved an interesting 4-3-3 combination. Lineup: Trüssel - Carvajal, Lotvonen, Mosqueira, Ekenflod - Wamsteeker, Eriksson, Meuri - Wolfson, Casellas, Grabek.

FC.Dnepr seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. falkarna tried to focus their attacks down the middle. FC.Dnepr were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. Priding himself in being an active coach, the falkarna manager gave new instructions to his players after 24 minutes. After 27 minutes, falkarna's X. Casellas made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. The referee showed FC.Dnepr's I. Tovkatskiy the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. falkarna's D. Meuri had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 34 minutes having been played. J. Cacho was the replacement. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave X. Casellas from falkarna a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 36 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! X. Casellas increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 2. falkarna's C. Wamsteeker was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box - X. Casellas managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 0 - 3 after 40 minutes. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for X. Casellas. J. Cacho received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 42 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 4. The falkarna fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. Halftime score was 0 - 4. falkarna claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.

In an effort to secure the lead, falkarna changed their tactic after 55 minutes. After 69 minutes, FC.Dnepr were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. T. Alventosa did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. P. Eriksson left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 75 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. H. Wind was the replacement. P. Trattner was called on to replace FC.Dnepr's O. Shved after 81 minutes following a nasty collision. FC.Dnepr's P. Trattner placed the ball right at his teammate's feet after a corner, but A. Pappens couldn't finish. falkarna showed their counterattack skill 87 minutes into the match by breaking through the middle, with A. Wolfson scoring uncontested for 0 - 5. By now, the players in falkarna felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. FC.Dnepr players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. The home side worked hard to get through the middle and as a result, had a good chance of getting one back as I. Olaru tried lifting the ball over keeper D. Trüssel. Unfortunately, the ball went just over the bar. falkarna's B. Grabek got himself booked for a foul. I. Olaru charged down the left and looked sure to score for FC.Dnepr 89 minutes into the game, but his shot went just wide. FC.Dnepr's counterattacks created a good chance for P. Trattner on the right after 89 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar. There was concern in the stands when, at the 89 minute mark, FC.Dnepr's R. Karikh hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. falkarna enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.

The most dominating FC.Dnepr player was without a doubt P. Trattner. D. Carrera on the other hand, had a terrible day. falkarna's best player was A. Wolfson. However, T. Ekenflod made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 5.
