Axelius 6 - 2 Walkers (394214106)

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 1951 to Axelius Arena. Jean-Denis Vanlommel was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Manuel Gómez and Mario Fajardo. Axelius started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. The following players took the field: Macías - Agruchave, Neergard, Kaulbarsch - Luzes, Kogkas, Moerenhout, Gattini - Navarro, Nikoskelainen, Rico Reyes.

Walkers decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. Starters: Parris - Burdick, Triebish, Tucaković - Skaats, Colvin, Guerrero, Klein - Trzonkowski, Palma, Pertl.

The wings were the focus of most of Axelius's attacks today. Players in Axelius heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. After 15 minutes, E. Navarro came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 1 - 0, giving Axelius the lead. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by R. Pertl. At last, Walkers's R. Triebish was able to backheel the ball in. 1 - 1. With 30 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 2 - 1 lead as J. Luzes flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. K. Kogkas squirmed through their central defence after 32 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 1. It was 3 - 1 at the break. Axelius had most of the ball, with 66 percent of possession.

After 49 minutes, J. Burdick sent the corner kick right to A. Palma who headed it sharply past the keeper. 3 - 2! 55 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as S. Nikoskelainen broke through, making the score 4 - 2 for Axelius. Walkers's J. Klein refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 60 minutes. 66 minutes in, Axelius's K. Neergard received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. After 70 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and J. Rico Reyes gave the Axelius supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 5 - 2. After 75 minutes, E. Navarro put Axelius ahead 6 - 2 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. Possession in this half belonged to Axelius, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.

J. Macías performed admirably for Axelius. E. Navarro turned in a dismal performance, however. Walkers's best player was R. Pertl. On the other hand, C. Parris's play was disheartening. The match ends 6 - 2.
