Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 1212 at Erasmus Arena today. Heinz Schefzky was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Paolo Yacob Saliman and Dain Vintiadis. Grifone- tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Starters: Barnés - Nelsen, Kröpfl, Anton - De Meyere, Loefen, Latulippe, Abashin, Nakonieczny - Esparraguera, Prandzioch.

Sants started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Pústrakov - Moliner, Nabuurs, Mughini, Buqué - Hita, Pedrerol, Civo de Sopranis, Mayer-Berg - Cuello, Masip.

Grifone- seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. Grifone-'s S. Loefen showed off his trademark ability to do the unexpected with a tricky pass after 9 minutes. Unfortunately, G. Prandzioch was startled by the play and wasn't able to control the finish. The referee signaled a penalty for the home side after 13 minutes, amid vocal protests from the visitors. Grifone- fans erupted in celebration as G. Prandzioch rifled the ball into the the top corner. 1 - 0! Things were going to get worse for the visitors. S. Loefen squirmed through their central defence after 21 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0. After 22 minutes, Grifone- raised their score by one when J. De Meyere's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by G. Prandzioch. 3 - 0. Coming from the right, J. De Meyere almost managed to score another goal for Grifone-, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper. The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 0. Possession in this half belonged to Grifone-, who controlled the ball 80 percent of the time.

Grifone- put in a good effort on the right, but G. Prandzioch saw his volley fly wide of the mark 52 minutes into the game. The home side's F. Nakonieczny came close to extending the lead 53 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but I. Pústrakov managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. F. Nakonieczny of Grifone- received a yellow card after 74 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Grifone-'s F. Nakonieczny had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 78 minutes having been played. I. Cosenza was the replacement. It was obvious that team Grifone- had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. S. Loefen had a fantastic opportunity to put Grifone- up another goal 85 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. Grifone- claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 80 percent.

Grifone-'s best player was E. Latulippe. I. Cosenza on the other hand, had a terrible day. C. Nabuurs performed admirably for Sants. On the other hand, E. Mayer-Berg's play was disheartening. The match ends 3 - 0.
