previous 10/10 next 2/10  Warszawa 8 - 1 Arabi (394260196)

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and UNTS Warszawa Arena saw a crowd turnout of 2866. Oldřich Kotásek was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Frank Luijkx and Ettore Ruju. Warszawa tactics involved an interesting 5-3-2 combination. Lineup: Michowski - Pielok, Barrientos, Jarasz, Tymcio, Pielczyk - Rymarczyk, Radaszkiewicz, Kuchmuradov - Stokkan, Szyszko.

Arabi decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. The following players took the field: Jongbloed - Antonacci, Juwayri, Špiler - Ajui, Ali, Ichya, Lanner - Al-Hamdan, Sulaiman, Haddad.

The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to L. Radaszkiewicz, but the Warszawa player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Z. Al-Hamdan from Arabi a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 7 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! I. Michowski of Warszawa had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game. R. Wesołowski came in to finish the match. The Warszawa captaincy was handed to B. Stokkan. 12 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as B. Stokkan broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for Warszawa. 30 minutes into the game, Arabi's attack got through on the right, but S. Juwayri couldn't handle the ball and his feeble kick wound up in the keeper's arms. Warszawa's A. Kuchmuradov struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 3 - 0 after 31 minutes. An awe-inspiring free kick by Y. Haddad of Arabi resulted in a goal 33 minutes into the game! 3 - 1 was the new score. Arabi breathed new life into the game with an opportunity to reduce the score after 38 minutes, but the home side's defenders cleared the ball on the line, after a long shot coming in from the left rebounded off the crossbar. With 39 minutes played, L. Pielczyk of Warszawa fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. After 40 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and S. Rymarczyk gave the Warszawa supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 1. Confident in their lead, Warszawa's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. A. Ichya of Arabi received a yellow card after 41 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. 4 - 1 was the halftime score. Neither team were able to dominate possession this half.

Warszawa solidified their lead at the 56 minute mark, as L. Pielczyk dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 5 - 1. With 58 minutes played, Warszawa put themselves up 6 - 1 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to S. Rymarczyk, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. The crowd roared its approval when R. Wesołowski somehow managed to block a shot which seemed to be a certain goal by Arabi's A. Ichya 84 minutes into the game. The goal to make it 7 - 1 was scored by P. Tymcio after 85 minutes, following an opportunistic counterattack down the middle by Warszawa. Warszawa's L. Radaszkiewicz refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 86 minutes. 87 minutes into the match, A. Kuchmuradov could have extended the lead, but his powerful free kick went just over the bar. Warszawa managed to extend their lead to 8 - 1 when S. Rymarczyk cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. That made three goals for S. Rymarczyk and he was marked down for the hat trick. After 88 minutes Arabi's Q. Ali had to be carried off on a stretcher in agony. A. El-Abir came in to replace him. The referee showed Arabi's L. Špiler the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Warszawa had most of the ball, with 61 percent of possession.

Most important Warszawa player was D. Jarasz. R. Wesołowski was a disappointment, however. Arabi's top performer was clearly Y. Haddad. A. Lanner on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 8 - 1.
