1016 punters turned up at
Hain Club Berlin Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Nathan Grömling was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Eric Welxdorf and
Ersan Atıf.
Berlin decided to use a 3-4-3 set up.
Lineup: Merckel - Hetschbach, Arocker-Aigner, Gumbrecht - Schenck, Tronicke, Klassen, Dollmann - Reckendorfer, Deisenhofen, Maccarrone.
ASTE tactics involved an interesting 5-3-2 combination.
Starters: Pedregal - Zangi, Kristiansen, Abderrafi, Fraxanet, Gawryluk - Kreul, Vidineev, Maviş - Gottfried, Mayer-Berg.
ASTE were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
ASTE's
G. Kristiansen managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 7 minutes. 0 - 1.
ASTE had to make a substitution after 38 minutes.
G. Zangi limped off the field and was replaced by
N. Jaindl.
D. Hetschbach of Berlin received a yellow card after 41 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
A. Vidineev behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 43 minutes as he gave the ball away to
K. Klassen. Lucky for him though, there was no goal.
0 - 1 was the score after the first half.
ASTE enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.
J. Fraxanet of ASTE took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 55 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 2.
The home side worked their way through the middle and almost got one back when
J. Deisenhofen tried to sneak the ball past the keeper.
I. Pedregal was too alert for that!
A marvellous Berlin effort on the right-hand side resulted in a goal after 70 minutes by
J. Reckendorfer, making the score 1 - 2.
L. Arocker-Aigner sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from
J. Reckendorfer after 73 minutes of play, making the score 2 - 2.
A. Vidineev of ASTE was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
ASTE claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.
As neither team had managed to win, extra time was called.
Berlin fans held their breath as
D. Hetschbach scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 3 - 2!
This put an end to extra time, making Berlin the winners.
Most important Berlin player was
J. Reckendorfer.
N. Gumbrecht turned in a dismal performance, however.
ASTE's top performer was clearly
J. Fraxanet.
However,
I. Pedregal made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 3 - 2.
