Dragojević received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. It was obvious that Spaten had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. With 17 minutes played, J. Spieß could have brought this one home for Spaten as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. Halftime score was 1 - 0. After 49 minutes, Spaten were awarded a free kick as their counter attack broke down. The set piece was lifted over the top, intended to open up the defence. However, the target man seemed to be taken by surprise, and could not reach the ball before it crossed the line for a goal kick. A great save by keeper A. Dijksman after 79 minutes kept the visitors in the game after A. Leitner struck from the left with a real cannonball. A counterattack by Westerholt after 80 minutes could have resulted in a goal, but D. Wohner, coming in on the left, couldn't get the shot off. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Spaten, with 55 percent of the ball.

Spaten's best player was S. Wunderle. On the other hand, A. Dallabona's play was disheartening. D. Wohner performed admirably for Westerholt. B. Fuchser was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 0.
