ATA's
G. Timmer increased the lead to 2 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 30 minutes.
The away team improved the scoreline to 2 - 1, as
T. Gonatas struck home, set up well by a play on the left 32 minutes into the match.
Cheers filled the stadium as
B. Kap broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 1 to ATA.
ATA put in a good effort on the right, but
X. Courinha saw his volley fly wide of the mark 37 minutes into the game.
With 38 minutes played, ATA put themselves up 4 - 1 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
A. Todorov, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
Halftime score was 4 - 1.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by ATA, with 63 percent of the ball.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
V. Angelov squirmed through their central defence after 47 minutes, increasing the lead to 5 - 1.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of ATA lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
P. Haxthausen from Soldiers a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 50 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
One of many good crosses from
G. Timmer on the wing was received and skillfully taken care of by
C. Kempes, who scored for ATA. 6 - 1
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of ATA to 7 - 1 as
T. Nydahl finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
A great save by keeper
V. Josko after 78 minutes kept the visitors in the game after
C. Kempes struck from the left with a real cannonball.
80 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
C. Kempes broke through, making the score 8 - 1 for ATA.
ATA had most of the ball, with 65 percent of possession.
The most dominating ATA player was without a doubt
X. Courinha.
On the other hand,
B. Kap's play was disheartening.
