F. Leuchtmann would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. M. Chevreux entered the game for aslan as the match clock showed 46 minutes. 52 minutes into the match, Galizatasaray nearly took the lead, as M. Petrescu broke through on the right. B. Valmy made the save, however. G. Rickly's speed was clear to see after 65 minutes, as he darted down the wing and released G. Zwald could have brought this one home for aslan as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. Galizatasaray's M. Raventós was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 78 minutes. The visitors' equaliser seemed sure to come after 79 minutes, following a one on one situation around the left hand side of the goal area, but B. Valmy got the best of it, blocking the shot from A. Pia. M. Petrescu made a run for the goal 81 minutes into the game but the home team's left back managed to sort the situation out in the end. Q. Muhl made one of his many fine passes from the wing into the middle 82 minutes into the match. G. Ielapi bravely attempted to execute a diving header and the ball was met firmly with his forehead for aslan. 2 - 0. The bench was restless, and with 85 minutes passed Galizatasaray's coach gave P. Antunes the opportunity the player had been hoping for. M. Petrescu reluctantly left the field. Against a lesser team, Galizatasaray could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 85 minutes.
