Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 2631 at
Blaue Lagune today.
Gonçalo Madeira was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Gavin Burkinshaw and
Dominique Deleau.
A 5-3-2 alignment was the formation of choice for RBK.
They fielded: Jonsson - Dardel, Cimbidò, Trioux, Zol, Mpanakos - Erlmann, Bernard, Enzler - Santagostino, Pasche.
Ganza decided to use a 4-5-1 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Jamin - Schoppe, Rácz, Corona, Briones - Adolfsson, Sarkawie, Boeris, Jodis, Ketaren - Karničnik.
For their match strategy, RBK had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
6 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but
F. Karničnik, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide.
After 7 minutes, the defensive line of RBK created a counterattack through the middle that gave
C. Bernard a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar.
After 24 minutes, Ganza sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
R. Jodis, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 0 - 1.
Halftime score was 0 - 1.
Ganza had most of the ball, with 58 percent of possession.
The coach of Ganza was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 46 minutes,
H. Giner came on for
A. Rácz.
The home crowd cheered when, after 61 minutes,
F. Karničnik's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day.
RBK's
T. Santagostino got himself booked for a foul.
E. Ketaren left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 66 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
G. Gilimón was the replacement.
67 minutes into the match,
G. Gilimón came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide.
RBK's
T. Santagostino almost tied things up with 74 minutes played after breaking through on the right, but his shot deflected off the post.
The crowd roared in delight as
K. Pasche finished off a spectacular series of passes through the middle to even the score for RBK 75 minutes into the match. 1 - 1.
Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 77 minutes into the match left Ganza's
H. Giner completely free to score. 1 - 2 for the visitors.
Ganza enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 58 percent of possession.
The most dominating RBK player was without a doubt
C. Bernard.
However,
T. Dardel made a disastrous appearance.
Ganza's best player was
R. Jodis.
A. Corona was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 1 - 2.
