It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 2677 that came out to
Weserstadion.
Karsten Kroiß was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ricardo Rivas and
Phuc Cung.
Bautzen started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Lineup: Sobański - Şahin, Boaventura, Tarrade - Ural, Gropp, Scheschko, Esbeck, Budzyń - Sinn, Haïbalo.
Sangue had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation.
The following players took the field: Weichselbraun - Van Asbroeck, Vasile, Balcewicz, Frondelius - Painecura, Pereira, Blommestein, Mouré, Falc - Pinto.
Sangue saw most attack opportunities on the wings.
Making his way up the middle 4 minutes into the match,
H. Scheschko almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert
O. Weichselbraun blocked it to keep the score level.
Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Bautzen's
F. Ural somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for
N. Haïbalo, who struck for 1 - 0.
After 13 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
J. Sinn gave the Bautzen supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0.
Confident in their lead, Bautzen's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
P. Esbeck of Bautzen received a yellow card after 27 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
2 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Bautzen enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 53 percent of possession.
59 minutes into the game, Sangue's attack got through on the right, but
P. Van Asbroeck couldn't handle the ball and his feeble kick wound up in the keeper's arms.
As usual,
R. Frondelius tried to use his strength and hard work for the benefit of the team, but the heat hit him hard and he couldn't keep pace at all.
Sangue kept trying to force their way through on the right side and
B. Balcewicz got his chance after 81 minutes, but the home side's defence held their position and stopped the attack.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Bautzen, with 51 percent of the ball.
Most important Bautzen player was
J. Sinn.
On the other hand,
P. Esbeck's play was disheartening.
Sangue's best player was
W. Pinto.
However,
P. Van Asbroeck made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 2 - 0.
