1426 fans braved the pouring rain at
Municipal de Nicodemus.
Percy Adelström was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Neco García Soler and
Joshua Duverneuil.
Muppet tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
The following players took the field: Zambrano - Viñe, Predieri, Casadesús, Boti - Subinyà, Peña Serrano, Canavesi, Callo - Balodis Matesanz, Palmeiro.
CAFE had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
Lineup: Pongrácz - Papp, Tarr, Salsench - Harkányi, Netz, Keino, Toldi, Jamin - Estélyi, Zenderowski.
The wings were the focus of most of CAFE's attacks today.
Z. Keino was struggling to make the ball dance with his usual trickery and panache, and the opposing players had little trouble shutting him down in these muddy conditions.
It was obvious that CAFE had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle.
With 11 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
B. Toldi put the ball away for 0 - 1.
After 26 minutes of game time,
B. Harkányi had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but
J. Zambrano was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner.
W. Zenderowski could have put his team up another goal 31 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post.
V. Kovaluk was called on to replace Muppet's
M. Callo after 34 minutes following a nasty collision.
It was 0 - 1 at the break.
CAFE claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 63 percent.
The home crowd cheered when, after 59 minutes,
A. Estélyi's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day.
With 60 minutes played, the Muppet coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
D. Folch came on,
O. Casadesús had to leave the fray.
CAFE's
B. Harkányi had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 66 minutes having been played.
K. Csuha was the replacement.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Muppet's
T. Palmeiro was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 70 minutes.
J. Sisemunda was given a chance to change things around.
The home crowd was not impressed when
J. Papp came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 77 minutes. CAFE were now up 0 - 2.
By now, the players in CAFE felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
CAFE's
W. Zenderowski was shown a yellow card after 79 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Muppet were worse off though, as
R. Peña Serrano was unable to finish the game and no more substitutes were available!
CAFE came close to extending their lead as
B. Jamin delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 83 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting.
Muppet's
N. Viñe got himself booked for a foul.
CAFE had most of the ball, with 69 percent of possession.
Most important Muppet player was
J. Sisemunda.
V. Kovaluk on the other hand, had a terrible day.
CAFE's top performer was clearly
W. Zenderowski.
K. Csuha turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 0 - 2.
