The 2916 spectators at
Vampire stadium were in for an afternoon of sunshine.
Lucio Campbell was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Kurt Halldorsson and
Petar Zlatanov.
Alucard had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation.
Starters: Cheyns - Hertel, Vandikkelen, Csernus, Kamrani - Colmant, De Martelaere, Deferme, Gehrz, Beaufays - Caraballo.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for HSV.
The following players took the field: Camelo - Sahar, Oršuľák, Daftsios - Grim, Osnabrück, Viviani, Kaus-Weidhausser, Polat - Eizaguirre, Iribias.
Alucard used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings.
HSV demonstrated their creative tactics on the field.
The referee showed Alucard's
D. Deferme the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
D. Deferme caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 10 minutes. This gave Alucard the 1 - 0 lead.
31 minutes were showing on the scoreboard when Alucard's
D. Deferme received his second yellow card and was sent off.
The sun seemed to put
D. Osnabrück in a great mood, and he showed off his technical skills all match long.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Alucard to 2 - 0 as
C. De Martelaere finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
2 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Alucard enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 63 percent of possession.
A. Gehrz increased the lead for Alucard to 3 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
It wasn't a good day at all for
R. Iribias. His powerful style of play just didn't fit the bill on this warm day.
C. Caraballo could have increased the lead after 66 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park.
Y. Sahar nearly reduced the lead 70 minutes into the game, but a splendid one-handed save by
J. Cheyns prevented the attempt coming in from the right flank from hitting the back of the net.
After 72 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
C. Caraballo gave the Alucard supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 0.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Alucard lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
Alucard claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 61 percent.
Most important Alucard player was
B. Kamrani.
However,
J. Cheyns made a disastrous appearance.
HSV's top performer was clearly
G. Eizaguirre.
L. Grim was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 4 - 0.
