A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 2763 to
Lassevallen.
Yuval Gliksman was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Paulão de Oliveira and
Maurice Duer.
Larsfrid started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Decamps - Werhani, van Doorne, Džarić - Vesterholt, Ingesson, Ghiringhelli, Nedersjö, Götze - Pettersson, Howingsbrook.
Pinglene had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation.
They fielded: Quadri - Johnsen, Rothbratt, Haugen, Buendia, Brendmo - Bleeker, Berg, Thorsen - Cerejeira, Øverland.
Larsfrid saw most attack opportunities on the wings.
Pinglene were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
Players in Larsfrid heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead.
With 10 minutes played
J. Pettersson almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide.
Pinglene's counterattacks created a good chance for
S. Rothbratt on the right after 11 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar.
At 20 minutes played,
C. Nedersjö came in from the right with the intention of giving Larsfrid the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar.
35 minutes in, Larsfrid's
J. Pettersson received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
36 minutes into the game,
G. Berg had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
F. Thorsen.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
K. Øverland from Pinglene a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 43 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Pinglene were great at switching from defence to attack, and after 44 minutes,
K. Øverland swept through the middle on a counterattack, making the score 0 - 1.
With 44 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience,
C. Ghiringhelli needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed.
Halftime score was 0 - 1.
Larsfrid enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 69 percent of possession.
Had it not been for one of the home defenders,
S. Johnsen would have put Pinglene up another goal 62 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing.
As usual,
C. Nedersjö tried to use his strength and hard work for the benefit of the team, but the heat hit him hard and he couldn't keep pace at all.
The referee showed Pinglene's
E. Haugen the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
B. Vesterholt hit the corner kick straight to the keeper, but it was mishandled, giving Larsfrid's
E. van Doorne an easy chance to knock it in for 1 - 1.
After 84 minutes,
V. Götze came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 2 - 1, giving Larsfrid the lead.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Larsfrid scored another to make it 3 - 1 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
C. Nedersjö after 86 minutes.
Confident in their lead, Larsfrid's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
Possession in this half belonged to Larsfrid, who controlled the ball 71 percent of the time.
The most dominating Larsfrid player was without a doubt
M. Werhani.
J. Pettersson was a disappointment, however.
Pinglene's best player was
R. Quadri.
F. Thorsen on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 3 - 1.
