Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 2144 at
Colosseum of Karbalaa today.
Domenik Colberg was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Brian Eilersen and
Mikko Laukkanen.
Karbalaa tactics involved an interesting 4-3-3 combination.
The following players took the field: Ruíz - Obaid, Rani, Azeez, Winjum - Muhandis, Bălasa, Hube - Salah, Humbert, Paiva.
KFDK decided to use a 2-5-3 set up.
They fielded: Giordani - Chaves, Barrios - Oskarsson, Svensson, Magnusson, Andersson, Kyhlsjö - Ristorp, Omogrosso, Bjuhr.
Karbalaa clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could.
This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when
S. Omogrosso slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against
I. Ruíz, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes.
M. Kyhlsjö came close to putting the visiting team one up 26 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
I. Ruíz managed to tip the ball to a corner.
KFDK had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 27 minutes in when
T. Oskarsson came up alone against
I. Ruíz who managed a block.
Karbalaa were able to draw a foul with their counterattacks, but the shot from
H. Obaid went into the arms of the keeper.
Down the middle came
T. Oskarsson, making a fantastic play that nearly had KFDK take the lead after 31 minutes, but
I. Ruíz preserved the tie.
Karbalaa showed their counterattack skill 38 minutes into the match by breaking through the middle, with
H. Hube scoring uncontested for 1 - 0.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
L. Paiva squirmed through their central defence after 40 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0.
Halftime score was 2 - 0.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by KFDK, with 61 percent of the ball.
K. Winjum left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 55 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
H. Haydarânli was the replacement.
Y. Muhandis showed why he is feared on the counterattack, breaking through in the middle and scoring for Karbalaa after 76 minutes to make the score 3 - 0.
By now, the players in Karbalaa felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
M. Rani was first to reach a ball launched long through the center from Karbalaa's defence 79 minutes into the game. He managed to keep his cool and beat the goalkeeper to make the score 4 - 0.
P. Bjuhr of KFDK seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 4 - 1 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by
H. Ristorp.
Possession in this half belonged to KFDK, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.
Karbalaa's top performer was clearly
V. Bălasa.
On the other hand,
F. Azeez's play was disheartening.
The most dominating KFDK player was without a doubt
P. Magnusson.
A. Barrios turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 4 - 1.
