The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 1616 had shown up at
Grand Stade des Loups for the match.
Rui Gaivota was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ulf Pettersson and
Gian Carlo Baggio.
A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Loups.
They fielded: Voithofer - Legay, Lyngaa, Vauhkonen - Berko, Lejeune, Clarisse, Mercier - Mayeur, Basquin, Mollet.
Rimalio decided to use a 5-2-3 set up.
Lineup: Auge - Roux, Gouard, Miskella, Raout, Ranta - Olivier, Verdon - Kilpijärvi, Gueguen, Draoui.
Rimalio took the lead after 10 minutes making the score 0 - 1.
T. Kilpijärvi placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left.
D. Miskella of Rimalio took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 27 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 2.
After this, you could see that the players of Rimalio were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
31 minutes in, Rimalio appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
weak.
The visitors almost increased their lead after 32 minutes when a sweetly hit free kick looked like it was heading for the top corner. However the keeper managed to get a fingertip to it, sending it over the bar.
The visitors'
M. Draoui took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 36 minutes into the match. 0 - 3 for Rimalio.
Loups had to make a substitution after 38 minutes.
A. Basquin limped off the field and was replaced by
R. Germain.
0 - 3 was the score after the first half.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Rimalio, with 56 percent of the ball.
A review of the gameplan helped Rimalio get back to a
passable organisation when the referee blew his whistle again.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
V. Gouard from Rimalio a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 47 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
With 52 minutes played,
S. Mollet was very close to reducing the score for Loups with a low drive from the left, but a defender stuck his foot out just in the nick of time, blocking the shot to a corner.
After 57 minutes, Loups switched
S. Clarisse with
R. Kouki, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch.
Loups needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 65 minutes
J. Vauhkonen made way for
A. Dattwyler.
N. Gueguen wanted to play on, but the Rimalio coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 69 minutes into the game by
W. Proux.
73 minutes into the game, Rimalio seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
passable level of organisation.
Some lightning fast two foot dribbles by
M. Draoui left
H. Legay way behind after 82 minutes, but the shot was just wide.
84 minutes into the game, Rimalio seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
inadequate.
Possession in this half belonged to Rimalio, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.
Loups's best player was
S. Mollet.
On the other hand,
A. Dattwyler's play was disheartening.
The most dominating Rimalio player was without a doubt
C. Olivier.
W. Proux turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 0 - 3.
