The 977 spectators at
Stadion im. Jana Pawła II were in for an afternoon of sunshine.
Thorben Bodenschatz was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Andy Ranzinger and
Tiemen den Braber.
Gródek tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
Lineup: Merchel - Buchenkamp, Ulisses, Christiansson - Mercau, Deskos, Nor, Curtopelle, Miranda - Naskali, Strijdonck.
iPSW decided to use a 4-5-1 set up.
They fielded: Sibelius - Bozhilov, Sulik, Labunda, Sakwiński - Widerski, Grudniewski, Olczykowski, Śladowski, Risum - Kunat.
It was an obvious ambition of Gródek to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
iPSW seemed to prefer attacking in the middle.
L. Curtopelle of Gródek received a yellow card after 16 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
Slack defending gave Gródek a chance to take the lead with 19 minutes played, but
A. Miranda's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition.
It was obvious that Gródek had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle.
The sun seemed to put
P. Sulik in a great mood, and he showed off his technical skills all match long.
Gródek's
M. Christiansson was shown a yellow card after 41 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
42 minutes into the game,
P. Sakwiński had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
E. Kurkiewicz.
It was 0 - 0 at the break.
Possession of the ball saw an equal split between the teams during the forty-five minutes.
The sunny day didn't make things easy for
E. Kurkiewicz who didn't seem his usual powerful self on the pitch.
Attacking on the wings was the choice for Gródek, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack.
Gródek were very close to putting themselves one up after 63 minutes as
M. Mercau got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide.
Gródek had a chance to take the lead after
K. Deskos's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 64 minutes.
E. Risum would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
J. Pietranik entered the game for iPSW as the match clock showed 65 minutes.
Some great play up the middle by Gródek led to a chance for
M. Naskali to score after 65 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar.
iPSW claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.
Still tied after 90 minutes, the match continued into extra time.
iPSW took the lead after 92 minutes making the score 0 - 1.
E. Kurkiewicz placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left.
Extra time over, iPSW were the victors!
Gródek's top performer was clearly
J. Strijdonck.
Z. Buchenkamp on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Most important iPSW player was
M. Kunat.
However,
E. Kurkiewicz made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 0 - 1.
