1194 spectators had found their way to
Battlefield, despite the heavy rain.
Ramón León Rodrigo was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Pepijn Steffensen and
Avi Dabush.
A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Machete.
The following players had been chosen: Peña - 福本 (Fukumoto), Vicente, Espinar, Huallpa - Varillas, Caro, Paciorkowski, Infantes, Bryce - Bernales.
Ockers started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Turner - Criades, Gill, Alfaia - Betteloni, Dingjimun, Gallegos, Woodbury, Garza - Manu, Erman.
J. Gallegos did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch.
Ockers's counterattacks were lethal to the opposing defence, allowing
O. Dingjimun to score easily from the right flank for 0 - 1.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Machete, with 53 percent of the ball.
Some things can only be learned through experience, and
J. Infantes should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Ockers a goal with 55 minutes of the match played.
After 63 minutes of game time,
W. Gill had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but
M. Peña was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner.
68 minutes into the match Machete's
S. Espinar head butted an opponent nastily, and so the referee sent him off immediately.
Unfortunately for Ockers,
O. Garza was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field.
B. Thijssen replaced him.
O. Dingjimun was, after 75 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper
M. Peña made the save.
76 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 2 as
P. Criades finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
P. Criades got himself booked. The manager of Ockers was not happy.
Ockers enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.
The most dominating Machete player was without a doubt
W. Paciorkowski.
On the other hand,
O. Bryce's play was disheartening.
Ockers's top performer was clearly
B. Thijssen.
However,
O. Dingjimun made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 0 - 2.
