previous 2/5 next 4/5  FCDS 0 - 7 Hague 2 (61960357)

A group of 290 people showed up at FCDS Arena 2, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came. FCDS lined up for kickoff in what looked like a 4-3-2 formation. The lucky starting players: Gan - Popa, Dulgheru, Bişboacă, Doica - Puică, Bodrogi, Gan - Ionescu, Vizuroiu.

Hague 2 had been instructed to play in a 3-5-2 formation by their coach this week. The picks for today were: Veldmate - Bols, Kuil, Ljubojević - Hirdes, Jakšić, van Bracht, van Bremen, Pijnenburg - Linderhof, van Leest.

Hague 2 concentrated their attacks to the middle of the field today. Given a free kick at a sharp angle, Hague 2 went for a variation that loyal fans may recognise from training. A sideways passing move pulled the defence out of position and let A. Linderhof slip through on goal. No hesitation - and it's 0 - 1, 8 minutes into the game. Hague 2's M. Kuil received a play slashing through the home side's central defence after 11 minutes, and chipped it past the keeper to score the 0 - 2 goal. The loyal few along the sidelines were not pleased with that one. The home players' parents couldn't believe their eyes as R. Hirdes came in from the right, shooting hard to score 19 minutes into the game. Hague 2 were now up 0 - 3. Content with the current score, the Hague 2 players started focusing on their defensive play and killing time. Lacking experience with the current tactics, the players of FCDS kept running into each other on the pitch. They only managed a weak level of organisation. C. Gan got a fingertip on K. van Bracht's shot from the left in the 22th minute, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. Looks like he hurt his wrist though, mummy is there to look after him. Good boy - now he's up again! 0 - 3 was the score after 45 minutes. This half the Hague 2 boys hung on to the ball, with 71 percent of possession.

The FCDS players spent the break at the feet of their coach, contemplating the mistakes they'd made so far. It helped them reach passable organisation when the match kicked off again. S. Jakšić could have made a name for himself when he, after 50 minutes, almost extended the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball looped into the middle, but the home side's keeper C. Gan collected it. Had it not been for the home team's left side defenders in the 59th minute, A. Linderhof would have surely scored to put Hague 2 up another goal. The Hague 2 free kick 63 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But there was an idea to it - the misdirected ball was turned into a cross towards A. Linderhof, who was waiting for it in the box. That's 0 - 4! Don't forget to thank the assistant coach for that gem of a routine! Players in Hague 2 heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. After 74 minutes, Hague 2's M. Kuil careened through the central defenders and was just able to get off a shot for the 0 - 5 goal before being brought down by his marker. Hague 2's J. van Bremen likes the dramatic moves, and this time it paid off. His chance pass caught the opposition off guard, and M. van Leest has no problems finishing it off for 0 - 6. Several mothers standing on the sideline felt the referee was much too lenient when he only showed I. Doica of FCDS a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 77 minutes into the game. 78 minutes into the match, a well-timed pass from the left side gave A. Linderhof, of Hague 2, an open road to the goal. Seconds later the score was 0 - 7. After scoring his third goal of the match, A. Linderhof ran over to his father to pose for a hat trick picture! FCDS did not seem very confident about what to do on the pitch, the organisation level having broken down to inadequate. In this half Hague 2 were the most energetic, keeping the ball to themselves for 68 percent of the time.

The FCDS players gave T. Vizuroiu a group hug after the game, claiming he'd been "really great". C. Gan showed he still has a lot to learn. The spectators agreed that the most impressive boy in Hague 2 today had been A. Linderhof. R. Hirdes needs a lot of extra training, however. At final whistle, the score is 0 - 7.
