300 people were spread out along the sidelines of
RJs Campus, the decent weather leading to fine conditions for football.
RJs lined up for kickoff in what looked like a 4-4-2 formation.
The boys who got to play today were: Mühlheim - Fouque, Rosenhammer, Pouly, Wiesmann - Forrer, Blank, Michaud, Wechlin - Silling, Sanson.
ccj had been instructed to play in a 5-4-1 formation by their coach this week.
The picks for today were: Brenzikofer - Bardoux, Chevallier, Summermatter, Elsaesser, Kretzinger - Chaze, Bodega, Martinez, Heyll - Portobello.
ccj would use their insights from a recent counterattack practice session in today's game.
Coming round from the left, RJs created a good opportunity to score 24 minutes into the game. Talented
L. Michaud shot, it rebounded off a defender and in the ensuing scuffle the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball.
After 25 minutes,
A. Summermatter of ccj fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was not impressed by the young lad's acting skills and booked him for diving.
RJs were eager to get ahead in the game and after 27 minutes
M. Sanson cut in from the right to unleash a shot that almost ended up in the net.
RJs's
M. Sanson has some interesting ideas about football as we all know, this time he cleared a ball away from his own team mate and up the field. It would have been a visionary move if
N. Forrer had been in on the plan, but he wasn't, and the ball passed him by.
Given a free kick in a difficult position after 38 minutes, RJs did not go for a direct shot but instead aimed for the area just in front of the keeper. The attacking players made several runs as the ball was played and made it hard for the defenders to protect their goal. After a short tussle with the defender,
B. Rosenhammer could finally lay the ball to rest behind the keeper. 1 - 0, and proof that it can pay off to come prepared.
After 40 minutes, ccj's
S. Kretzinger received a yellow card after ignoring the referee's order to tuck his shirt inside his shorts.
The referee confirmed the score as 1 - 0 when he signalled for the halftime break.
In this half RJs were the most energetic, keeping the ball to themselves for 59 percent of the time.
All square again as the visitors put away the 1 - 1 after 54 minutes.
A. Heyll came in from the right, reached a rebound and blasted it in. Very determined - seldom you see that in a teenager.
RJs almost seemed to have a working tactic this day, purposefully working their way up the right of the field with passes and clever runs. After 71 minutes,
K. Wechlin got the opening he needed, overtaking an off-balance defender and sealing the 2 - 1 goal for the lead.
L. Michaud increased RJs's lead to 3 - 1, smashing in a cross from the right.
The RJs youngsters looked rather smug following the 4 - 1 goal, which came about after a left side attack.
L. Michaud stuffed it in after around 80 minutes of the match.
S. Kretzinger of ccj got sent off for kicking the ball after the whistle, a completely uncalled for move, earning him his second yellow card of the game.
RJs had to make a substitution after 84 minutes.
B. Rosenhammer limped off the field with tears in his eyes and was replaced by
J. Sommerhalder.
This half the RJs boys hung on to the ball, with 59 percent of possession.
RJs's
M. Sanson had a great game and was congratulated by his team mates. This lad could be going places!
J. Sommerhalder showed he still has a lot to learn.
The ccj players gave
A. Summermatter a group hug after the game, claiming he'd been "really great".
On the other hand,
K. Bardoux's performance hadn't been very good at all.
At final whistle, the score is 4 - 1.
