previous 8/10 next 10/10  Revi 2 - 1 ataturk (350900945)

Due to an all-day shower, 22318 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Revi Team Arena. Rune Hagsten was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Samuel Frésard and Kauno Tamski. Revi started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Siveri - Viczián, Cabaça, Modesti, Iliano - Pořízek, Raviv, Janáček, Elzem - Casolari, Brossault.

ataturk tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Picasso - Pini, Österland, Helderman, Eshuys - Ende, Mercado, Glezman, De Lellis - Katsiaounis, Tortora.

Today, ataturk's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks. In a rapid move 21 minutes into the match, M. Tortora of ataturk lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked S. Katsiaounis who easily hit it home to make it 0 - 1. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy! ataturk came close to extending their lead as L. Glezman delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 22 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. A counterattack by Revi after 23 minutes could have resulted in a goal, but V. Pořízek, coming in on the left, couldn't get the shot off. Due to some great work on the right wing Revi's F. Modesti was able to even the score after 25 minutes to make the score 1 - 1. Some lightning fast two foot dribbles by U. Casolari left M. Österland way behind after 29 minutes, but the shot was just wide. It wasn't a pretty goal, but the free kick by A. Brossault after 39 minutes somehow found its way past the keeper. Revi takes the lead, 2 - 1! It was 2 - 1 at the break. This part of the game was a standoff between the teams in terms of possession.

After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, E. Mercado got himself booked. The manager of ataturk was not happy. T. Kinash was called on to replace ataturk's S. Katsiaounis after 66 minutes following a nasty collision. Neither team were able to dominate possession this half.

The most dominating Revi player was without a doubt N. Siveri. U. Casolari on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important ataturk player was T. Kinash. On the other hand, M. Picasso's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 1.
