previous 9/10 next 1/10  Erpiso 0 - 1 Vidalenc (351985092)

30186 fans braved the pouring rain at Erpiso Arena Galega. Guillaume Gomis was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Francisco Pardo and Noah Winterfeld. Erpiso tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Begay - Katić, Sensini, Grus - Portillo, Gebell, Gomis, Texidor, Montero - Albarell, Vermeeren.

Vidalenc decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. They fielded: dos Ramos - Vučelić, Fellegara, Spalek - Fernández Roces, Albariño, Sgariglia, Mönki - Kajzar, Ródez, Lowe.

Erpiso mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. Vidalenc clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. After 1 minutes, the Vidalenc coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving M. Ródez off the field. R. Rosenbæk took his place. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by A. Lowe. At last, Vidalenc's P. Mönki was able to backheel the ball in. 0 - 1. Given a free kick in a difficult position after 21 minutes, Erpiso tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave G. Sgariglia from Vidalenc a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 29 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Erpiso put pressure on the visitors' central defence 30 minutes into the game, but M. Gomis couldn't find an opening. Some fine passing in the middle of the pitch, carving open the away defence, should have led to a goal for Erpiso, but Í. Gebell's shot went over the bar. Halftime score was 0 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Erpiso, with 68 percent of the ball.

L. Vermeeren could have scored for Erpiso with his free kick after 75 minutes, but the visitors' keeper just managed to get a hand on it. 77 minutes in, Vidalenc's M. Kajzar received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Erpiso claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 69 percent.

Erpiso's top performer was clearly Í. Gebell. E. Sensini was a disappointment, however. Vidalenc's best player was A. Lowe. On the other hand, M. Vučelić's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 1.
