04-02-2012 18.20
18000 spectators had come to
Teufelspott this cloudy day.
Jan Pultar was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jukka Pöllänen and
Víctor Marchante.
Bolzer started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Wannrich - Hobe, Smithyman, Gazo - Wolfert, Żebrowski, Kantas, Adolfsson, Meixengo - Pinzón, Paula.
Thunders had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
Lineup: Gracia - Habrajski, Goñi, Vilyn - Buireu, Moreno, Lohberger, Reidinger, Krumphold - Krymski, Rheinberger.
Bolzer were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
It was an obvious ambition of Thunders to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
They were singing the praises of
E. Meixengo 27 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Bolzer.
Thunders's
P. Reidinger refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 30 minutes.
With 33 minutes played,
S. Moreno came in from the right and could have evened the score, but the defenders successfully repelled the attack by Thunders.
37 minutes in, Bolzer's
H. Gazo received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
1 - 0 was the halftime score.
Bolzer had most of the ball, with 63 percent of possession.
With 72 minutes played,
S. Hobe of Bolzer fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
Thunders's
M. Krymski has the wonderful ability to create chances out of thin air. 76 minutes into the match he bamboozled a couple of opposition defenders before sending the keeper the wrong way and sidefooting the ball home into an empty net. That totally unexpected burst of flair made it 1 - 1.
Players in Bolzer heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead.
Bolzer had a good opportunity to take the lead as
B. Adolfsson came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of
D. Gracia.
80 minutes into the game, Thunders wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
L. Rheinberger gave
M. Lessing a quick hug as he left the field.
85 minutes into the match and the home team took a 2 - 1 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Bolzer was
R. Pinzón.
H. Gazo really should have scored when he was chosen by fate to confront a wide open goal following a great play by
S. Hobe after a corner.
An equalising goal seemed certain after 87 minutes when
M. Krymski attacked down the left wing, but
M. Wannrich just managed to make a save to keep the ball out of the net.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Bolzer, with 64 percent of the ball.
Bolzer's best player was
B. Paula.
S. Hobe turned in a dismal performance, however.
S. Moreno performed admirably for Thunders.
E. Lohberger was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 2 - 1.
