Sosnowiec 2 - 0 SICKOWSKY
(361953678)

23-11-2011 17.50
Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
Szpaków Stadium saw a crowd turnout of 805.
João Mendonça was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ceyhun Pınar and
Jonas Nyhen.
Sosnowiec tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination.
Lineup: Pereira Pinho - Goenechea, Creţoiu, Szwarocki, Reboul - Garay, Borghall, Kocieniewski, Tejedor, Garbuna - Hus.
SICKOWSKY decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
The following players took the field: Oleśków - Hadl, Piec, Abreu - Evensen, Mendyk, Uuksulainen, Wortel, Nalborczyk - Hallik, Bogutskiy.
SICKOWSKY tried to focus their attacks down the middle.
Sosnowiec made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left
J. Szwarocki completely alone with keeper
F. Oleśków, who made a spectacular block.
It was a fine day for
E. Evensen on his wing, his cross pass to
J. Nalborczyk was especially delicate 19 minutes into the game, but the keeper saved.
At 23 minutes played,
D. Hus came in from the right with the intention of giving Sosnowiec the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar.
The celebrations in the stands could only mean one thing -
P. Kocieniewski's free kick had found the back of the net and put Sosnowiec ahead 1 - 0!
Sosnowiec's
F. Reboul was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 38 minutes.
1 - 0 was the halftime score.
Possession in this half belonged to Sosnowiec, who controlled the ball 61 percent of the time.
Sensing defeat in the air, the SICKOWSKY manager directed
M. Mendyk and
M. Piec to change positions with each other. This was 60 minutes into the match.
Sosnowiec's
A. Creţoiu's long shot really ought to have found the net 76 minutes into the match, but it fell just wide of the target.
After 83 minutes SICKOWSKY's
M. Piec limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue.
Sosnowiec's
P. Kocieniewski swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball.
Cheers filled the stadium as
P. Kocieniewski broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 2 - 0 to Sosnowiec.
Confident in their lead, Sosnowiec's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
J. Nalborczyk from SICKOWSKY a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 88 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
A. Creţoiu of Sosnowiec had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game.
M. Samol came in to finish the match.
Sosnowiec had most of the ball, with 59 percent of possession.
Sosnowiec's top performer was clearly
M. Tejedor.
G. Pereira Pinho on the other hand, had a terrible day.
R. Bogutskiy performed admirably for SICKOWSKY.
R. Wortel was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 2 - 0.
