The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 2701 had shown up at
Cal Japo Stadium for the match.
Nicolas Mora was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Mãdãlin Bãlãnescu and
Sabatino Piazza.
Pony decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
The following players took the field: Pozo - Vergas, Pozo, Pozo - Spagnuolo, Cīsis, Bender, Ervasti, Lebre - Serrano Crespo, Tinaglia.
Lionel tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination.
They fielded: Priyo - Kantor, Bardach, Silalahi - Trejo, Nievas, Feyaerts, Pederboni - Lessy, Amoozad, Pudjo.
Lionel clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could.
Lionel's
C. Pederboni got himself booked for a foul.
Making his way up the middle 35 minutes into the match,
P. Serrano Crespo almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert
F. Priyo blocked it to keep the score level.
P. Serrano Crespo gave Pony the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 1 - 0
After 37 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
D. Pozo might have resulted in another goal for Pony. However,
F. Priyo made a spectacular save.
Halftime score was 1 - 0.
Possession in this half belonged to Pony, who controlled the ball 80 percent of the time.
The referee showed Pony's
J. Lebre the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
P. Serrano Crespo could have put Pony up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 58 minutes.
Lionel caught their opponents out with a clever counterattack down the right wing 59 minutes into the match.
U. Silalahi was able to finish off the move - 1 - 1.
G. Spagnuolo of Pony received a yellow card after 69 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
The crowd groaned its disapproval when
V. Ervasti missed a free kick that would have given Pony the lead after 73 minutes.
Pony fans held their breath as
P. Serrano Crespo scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 2 - 1!
With 85 minutes gone, Lionel's
C. Pederboni had to leave the pitch after talking back to the referee and receiving his second booking.
After 87 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
N. Tinaglia gave the Pony supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 1.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Pony's
J. Lebre increasing the lead to 4 - 1.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Pony, with 87 percent of the ball.
K. Cīsis performed admirably for Pony.
D. Pozo turned in a dismal performance, however.
Most important Lionel player was
C. Pudjo.
F. Priyo on the other hand, had a terrible day.
