LIV1 3 - 0 Cagnacci (364266664)

The crowd of 3755 turning up at Scen of life today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Tomas Duvner was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Fabian Egloff and Igor Rokosa. LIV1 had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. Starters: Gorić - Stocco, Grenkvist, Nordlius, Sidenby - Seriese, Martinsson, Olsson, Ramland, Cebericha - Thorstensson.

Cagnacci tactics involved an interesting 5-3-2 combination. They fielded: Laut - Theobald, Bosisio, Deient, Steffani, Imbalzano - Fasciano, Rosso, Dardalla - Vieri, Gramazio.

Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Cagnacci. LIV1 were very close to putting themselves one up after 15 minutes as O. Ramland got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide. With 16 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Cagnacci resulted in a counterattack that set E. Imbalzano free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. LIV1 made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left L. Grenkvist completely alone with keeper R. Laut, who made a spectacular block. 20 minutes into the game Cagnacci managed a counterattack, but E. Imbalzano took a soft shot from the left flank that was easy prey for the alert keeper. E. Fasciano was uncomfortable with the soggy pitch as he couldn't move the ball around with his usual grace. 29 minutes in, LIV1 appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only solid. M. Stocco was having a great game - if anything the pouring rain seemed to be spurring him on! LIV1's P. Sidenby was shown a yellow card after 34 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 0. LIV1 enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 61 percent of possession.

Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of LIV1 was able to get his message across, and raised LIV1's organisation to excellent. As the 65 minute mark approached, the Cagnacci coach decided it was time for a substitution. E. Gramazio reluctantly made way for R. Menchetti on the pitch. After 76 minutes, the LIV1 coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving F. Martinsson off the field. I. Nummi took his place. 76 minutes into the game, LIV1 had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to solid. After 80 minutes, P. Olsson came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 1 - 0, giving LIV1 the lead. LIV1's J. Cebericha increased the lead to 2 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 81 minutes. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of LIV1 to 3 - 0 as J. Cebericha finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave L. Grenkvist from LIV1 a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 84 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by LIV1, with 60 percent of the ball.

L. Grenkvist performed admirably for LIV1. On the other hand, M. Stocco's play was disheartening. Most important Cagnacci player was R. Menchetti. P. Steffani on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 3 - 0.
