Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Leerstade saw a crowd turnout of 3746. Ivan Bendazzoli was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Antoni Hewelt and Jan-Hendrik Pleininger. Standard had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Standard were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. After 17 minutes of play, I. Oswaldt gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. The visiting team's B. Delpeuch was able to score the 1 - 1 equaliser with a header 19 minutes into the match, after some good work on the right. With 24 minutes played, F. Kierul of Mohikaani fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. The home side put themselves ahead 2 - 1 after 27 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from J. Becker, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. The visitors didn't give in and, after 31 minutes, K. Nilsson got through the home side's central line of defence, rolling in the equaliser to make it 2 - 2. At 38 minutes played, R. Zagnan came in from the right with the intention of giving Standard the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar. Some great play up the middle by Standard led to a chance for A. Coviello to score after 39 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. 40 minutes into the game, A. Lautamies almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. It was 2 - 2 at the break. Standard enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.

As the 46 minute mark approached, the Standard coach decided it was time for a substitution. A. Obregón reluctantly made way for B. Steibl on the pitch. After 46 minutes, the Standard coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving I. Oswaldt off the field. S. Jakubczyk took his place. N. Criades would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. V. Ilea entered the game for Standard as the match clock showed 46 minutes. 55 minutes into the game, J. Mossblom was a hair's breadth away from giving Mohikaani the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by Y. Comenius saved the home team that time. Players in Standard heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. After some beautiful movement down the left wing, A. Coviello scored for Standard putting them ahead 3 - 2, after 57 minutes. Mohikaani levelled the score after 64 minutes to make it 3 - 3, as M. Hautala struck home after a fine midfield combination through the centre, which left him completely unmarked. Standard took the lead 77 minutes into the match after a magnificent free kick by C. Manni that made the score 4 - 3. Standard's C. Manni struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 5 - 3 after 82 minutes. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, K. Nilsson got himself booked. The manager of Mohikaani was not happy. Mohikaani breathed new life into the game with an opportunity to reduce the score after 88 minutes, but the home side's defenders cleared the ball on the line, after a long shot coming in from the left rebounded off the crossbar. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Standard, with 61 percent of the ball.

The most dominating Standard player was without a doubt V. Ilea. R. Zagnan was a disappointment, however. B. Delpeuch performed admirably for Mohikaani. T. Lehtovaara turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 5 - 3.
