Xaverov 4 - 2 Guty (365829583)

The crowd of 39909 turning up at Chvalská tvrz today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Tim Pante was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Werner Opfer and Alan Cantwell. A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Xaverov. The following players took the field: Tatara - Makšeckas, Stentardo - Cueto, Antony, Whitaker, Schiopu, Alderman - Vandenboer, Vanloon, Pagliardini.

Guty decided to use a 4-5-1 set up. They fielded: Brovold - Budka, Švejnoha, Rojt, Bochenek - Senftenberg, Pastorek, Bertrana, Molholt, Baby - Jurček.

The terraces were silenced after 2 minutes when Guty's V. Pastorek put the guests ahead 0 - 1, following an attack on the right. Some fine passing in the middle of the pitch, carving open the away defence, should have led to a goal for Xaverov, but W. Vanloon's shot went over the bar. 0 - 1 was the halftime score. Xaverov claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.

After 51 minutes C. Alderman made a speedy advance and dropped the ball to W. Vanloon who shuffled it past the keeper. The score was now 1 - 1. After 56 minutes, the Guty coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving V. Pastorek off the field. J. Yuso took his place. The home side put themselves ahead 2 - 1 after 59 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from D. Cueto, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. P. Molholt of Guty seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 2 - 2 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by E. Bertrana. 70 minutes into the game, Guty wanted to bring some new energy to their game. J. Jurček gave V. Dědič a quick hug as he left the field. R. Schiopu was in the clear after breaking the offside trap following a Xaverov counterattack from the left after 70 minutes. His neat finish made the score 3 - 2. A great save by keeper R. Brovold after 71 minutes kept the visitors in the game after D. Cueto struck from the left with a real cannonball. Coming through the middle E. Bertrana almost scored the equaliser for Guty after 72 minutes, but T. Tatara made an excellent save, tipping the awkwardly curled shot past the post. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Xaverov's W. Pagliardini increasing the lead to 4 - 2. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Xaverov coach let V. Bodola replace F. Whitaker after 80 minutes. T. Tatara made a brilliant save 82 minutes into the match, blocking a rocket of a shot from M. Budka on the right hand side. Neither team were able to dominate possession this half.

Xaverov's top performer was clearly C. Vandenboer. C. Alderman was a disappointment, however. Most important Guty player was V. Dědič. S. Rojt on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 4 - 2.
