previous 5/10 next 7/10  Ustecan 4 - 1 Nevolik (365847170)

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 49773 had shown up at JAMPLAC for the match. Jonas Södermar was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Kostas Aggelakas and Thierry Vermeiren. Ustecan decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Starters: Lumijärvi - Polášek, Nietlisbach, Kowalczyk - Grym, Jůzl, Alemann, Hnilička, Magnin - Mačo, Višňovský.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Nevolik. The following players had been chosen: Moravac - Saukāns, Villaquirán, Simhi - Chirvase, Westerhof, Murray, Nevole, Hafermalz - Müstesna, Cullen.

Ustecan mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. Nevolik seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. The crowd groaned its disapproval when E. Mačo missed a free kick that would have given Ustecan the lead after 16 minutes. After 18 minutes Ustecan's M. Višňovský contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. Ustecan made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left J. Kowalczyk completely alone with keeper P. Moravac, who made a spectacular block. A scuffle developed as players from both sides clashed following a tussle in the centre of the field 42 minutes into the match. After regaining order and consulting his linesman, the referee called Nevolik's O. Saukāns to one side and produced a red card for the player. G. Grym caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 43 minutes. This gave Ustecan the 1 - 0 lead. 1 - 0 was the score after the first half. Ustecan enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.

47 minutes into the game Nevolik's J. Hafermalz found a gap in the home side's central defence and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 1 - 1. E. Mačo gave Ustecan the lead with a beautiful free kick after 51 minutes. 2 - 1! Ustecan solidified their lead at the 65 minute mark, as O. Polášek dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 1. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave E. Mačo from Ustecan a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 75 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Unfortunately for Nevolik, P. Moravac was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field. R. Vandewalle replaced him. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Ustecan to 4 - 1 as M. Višňovský finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Ustecan, with 57 percent of the ball.

Ustecan's best player was E. Mačo. On the other hand, G. Grym's play was disheartening. Most important Nevolik player was M. Nevole. R. Vandewalle turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 4 - 1.
