Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 73556 to
Polpetta's Stadium.
Randy De Beus was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Mikael Pålsson and
Martijn Klapwijk.
Polpetta had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
The following players took the field: Macovei - Ali, Bernard, Moroni - Paolucci, Faria, Consolas, Schram, Karstensson - Kikidakis, Braconi.
A 5-3-2 alignment was the formation of choice for excoto.
Starters: Stuifzand - Domingues, Roturier, Zębala, Mastai, 寒興 (Hanxing) - Ketilsson, Kipkoech, Vooremaa - Saja, Lasciato.
excoto clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could.
With 16 minutes played
A. Moroni almost gave the home side the lead with an unexpected free kick set up, but the visitors'
S. Stuifzand was onto it, grabbing the would be breakthrough ball.
excoto were great at switching from defence to attack, and after 18 minutes,
M. Mastai swept through the middle on a counterattack, making the score 0 - 1.
D. Saja's lightning pace was too much for
D. Bernard who could only look on as the excoto player blasted one home. 0 - 2.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of excoto lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
excoto had a great opportunity to score following a counterattack after 39 minutes, but
G. Ketilsson's shot from the left sailed high over the bar.
0 - 2 was the score after the first half.
Polpetta enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.
The bench was restless, and with 50 minutes passed Polpetta's coach gave
P. Haiminen the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
D. Bernard reluctantly left the field.
The crowd groaned when
G. Braconi, having maneuvered his way down the right, fired the ball just wide and missed a great opportunity to reduce the deficit for Polpetta.
excoto were pushed back, and had many dangerous counterattacks. An impressive one came 51 minutes into the match, but
M. Mastai narrowly missed the free kick attempt that was awarded as a result of a foul.
C. Lasciato of excoto seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 0 - 3 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by
M. Mastai.
55 minutes in, excoto's
莫. 寒興 (Hanxing) received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
56 minutes into the game, excoto seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
inadequate level of organisation.
The game was close to savage at times, and excoto's
莫. 寒興 (Hanxing) received a second yellow card after 77 minutes; his ticket out of the game.
The home crowd cheered when, after 78 minutes,
M. Vooremaa's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day.
S. Stuifzand wanted to play on, but the excoto coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 89 minutes into the game by
T. Pape.
The excoto players could smell victory in the air.
D. Saja wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
G. Morroto after 89 minutes.
Polpetta claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 67 percent.
G. Braconi performed admirably for Polpetta.
However,
S. Macovei made a disastrous appearance.
excoto's best player was

The match ends 0 - 3.
