previous 3/10 next 5/10  AUTOSPURGO 2 - 6 Cavatielli (366046903)

Clear skies welcomed the 35228 spectators who had made their way to Olimpic AUTOSPURGO Arena. Jaime Naranco was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ernst-Dieter Oberkirch and Noam Dego. AUTOSPURGO had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. The following players took the field: Novković - Lider, Ciannarella, Placidi - Başkurt, Lund, Ares, Nuţă - Urogataya, Fassari, Fornasini.

A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Cavatielli. Starters: Meyer - De Temmerman, Olsson - Hay, Pisto, Ball, Scarpette, Ploscar - Torchia, Colonnelli, Mićić.

Cavatielli tried to focus their attacks down the middle. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 4 minutes allowed G. Colonnelli to score for Cavatielli. The scoreboard now read 0 - 1. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave F. Hay from Cavatielli a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 8 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! After 16 minutes, Cavatielli's M. Torchia burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 2. AUTOSPURGO's L. Lund was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 19 minutes. AUTOSPURGO's G. Fassari startled S. Fornasini with an unexpected pass. Unfortunately, the receiver was too stunned by the play to convert the perfect setup into a goal. With 24 minutes played, V. Olsson nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. A marvellous AUTOSPURGO effort on the right-hand side resulted in a goal after 26 minutes by L. Lund, making the score 1 - 2. 33 minutes in, and AUTOSPURGO were able to score the equalising goal to make it 2 - 2 when S. Fornasini picked up a pass coming in from the right and chipped it past the away team's keeper. 35 minutes into the game, G. Colonnelli had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came C. Dănoiu. It was 2 - 2 at the break. Cavatielli had most of the ball, with 60 percent of possession.

The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Cavatielli's A. Ploscar after 50 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 2 - 3 lead. With 71 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed R. Scarpette of Cavatielli to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 2 - 4. After 73 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave R. Scarpette a chance to increase the lead for Cavatielli, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 2 - 5. By now, the players in Cavatielli felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Cavatielli, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. After 75 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for A. Ploscar who increased Cavatielli's lead to 2 - 6. D. Ball came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over V. Novković but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. Possession in this half belonged to Cavatielli, who controlled the ball 61 percent of the time.

The most dominating AUTOSPURGO player was without a doubt S. Fornasini. However, N. Placidi made a disastrous appearance. T. Pisto performed admirably for Cavatielli. On the other hand, A. Ploscar's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 6.
