previous 4/4 next 2/4  Junior 1 - 1 stellarossabarcello (366156050)

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 19448 at Fossa dei Grifoni today. Gérald Christin was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Niccolò Orsini and Sébastien Dehais. Junior had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players took the field: Mikoda - Smed, Antunes, Friargiu - Berlee, Schapendonk, Nagelhout, Pangua, Bassewitz - Mairhofer, Bueno.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for stellarossabarcello. Lineup: Tendron - Perkin, Pacheco, Lefterache - Moliner, Borghi, Bakkehaug, Natalicchio, Vučetič - Grk, Lemoine.

For their match strategy, stellarossabarcello had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. The terraces were silenced after 15 minutes when stellarossabarcello's R. Moliner put the guests ahead 0 - 1, following an attack on the right. Some fine passing in the middle of the pitch, carving open the away defence, should have led to a goal for Junior, but C. Bassewitz's shot went over the bar. It was 0 - 1 at the break. Junior had most of the ball, with 61 percent of possession.

With 60 minutes played, N. Borghi of stellarossabarcello fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. After a fatal mistake from the away team's right side defence 61 minutes into the match, an alert A. Schapendonk bagged the ball for Junior, levelling the score to 1 - 1. R. Moliner of stellarossabarcello received a yellow card after 62 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Down the middle came M. Vučetič, making a fantastic play that nearly had stellarossabarcello take the lead after 70 minutes, but A. Mikoda preserved the tie. Coming in from the right, Junior had a good opportunity to convert on a counterattack after 71 minutes, but E. Bueno's attempt to finish was easily stopped. stellarossabarcello's T. Lemoine was shown a yellow card after 72 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Some great play up the middle by Junior led to a chance for J. Smed to score after 80 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. stellarossabarcello were able to draw a foul with their counterattacks, but the shot from M. Vučetič went into the arms of the keeper. 85 minutes in, Junior's G. Antunes received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Junior, with 62 percent of the ball.

Junior's top performer was clearly D. Mairhofer. However, J. Smed made a disastrous appearance. Most important stellarossabarcello player was T. Lemoine. M. Vučetič turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 1.
