With 21 minutes played, VERDE's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to F. Mabes he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 0 - 1. The crowd was on its feet 25 minutes into the match, as PEF's J. Cesbron found himself unmarked in front of the goal after a dash up the left side. He calmly put away the 1 - 1 equaliser. Against a lesser team, VERDE could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 26 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save. The terraces were silenced after 31 minutes when VERDE's P. Mulè put the guests ahead 1 - 2, following an attack on the right. 34 minutes into the game, VERDE were awarded a penalty and M. Pfandl was able to increase the visitors' lead to 1 - 3 rolling the ball in by the right post. 1 - 3 was the score after the first half. VERDE enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.

After 46 minutes, PEF used a short break in the game to take new instructions from their coach. E. Maclure really should have scored when he was chosen by fate to confront a wide open goal following a great play by I. Krummensee after a corner. F. Mabes left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 59 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. N. Uclés Arroyo was the replacement. The VERDE players could smell victory in the air. E. Maclure wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for M. bin Shahrum after 60 minutes. After 64 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for M. Pfandl who increased VERDE's lead to 1 - 4. Confident in their lead, VERDE's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. The home crowd was not impressed when N. Klėgeris came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 66 minutes. VERDE were now up 1 - 5. N. Klėgeris wanted to play on, but the VERDE coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 75 minutes into the game by S. van Etten.
