(366202157)

03-03-2012 12.20
A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 18701 to
The Lion's den Arena.
Roland Arnold was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ion Botea and
Alan Ritchie.
MALATESTA started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Di Mino - Anolli, Villar, Lorenz - Ionescu, Wezeman, das Pontes, La Spina, Paglia - Ulivieri, Masa.
Polisportiva had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation.
Starters: Mulloni - Leanza, Høiseth, Moltedo - Torsson, Condello, Aquino, Peksoy - Stokić, Diaz, Ascone.
They were singing the praises of
R. Villar 6 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to MALATESTA.
The score became 2 - 0 at 18 minutes into the game, when MALATESTA were given a penalty which
W. Lorenz blasted straight down the middle giving the keeper no chance!
The players of MALATESTA now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of MALATESTA to 3 - 0 as
R. Ulivieri finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
A great save by keeper
G. Mulloni after 33 minutes kept the visitors in the game after
D. Wezeman struck from the left with a real cannonball.
With 34 minutes gone,
G. Ascone suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing when a counterattack by Polisportiva caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring.
After 36 minutes,
L. La Spina put MALATESTA ahead 4 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
Halftime score was 4 - 0.
MALATESTA claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 67 percent.
The sun seemed to put
R. Ulivieri in a great mood, and he showed off his technical skills all match long.
E. das Pontes could have increased the lead after 50 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park.
MALATESTA solidified their lead at the 57 minute mark, as
R. Ulivieri dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 5 - 0.
Usually a powerful player on the field,
P. Aquino looked kind of pale and tired under the hot sun.
R. Villar increased the lead for MALATESTA to 6 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
MALATESTA enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 69 percent of possession.
MALATESTA's top performer was clearly
R. Ulivieri.
E. Di Mino on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The most dominating Polisportiva player was without a doubt
D. Stokić.
P. Aquino turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 6 - 0.
