A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 18537 to La Tana Del Maffe. Héctor Vergara was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Lionel Wyss and Feddo van der Looi. Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Maffe. GARI used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. After 7 minutes of play, N. Issa gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. The crowd gasped as P. Mäkivaara of Maffe was flattened by an opponent after 22 minutes and had to be carried off. H. Mundakar came in off the bench. The goal to make it 2 - 0 was scored by T. Pirlo after 30 minutes, following an opportunistic counterattack down the middle by Maffe. A questionable free kick call just outside the home side's penalty area gave GARI a chance at reducing the score 32 minutes into the match. In the end, the ball went wide. Maffe's F. Zaccone was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 35 minutes. Coming in on the left, A. Bellini did everything right to get a goal for GARI after 36 minutes, but his finishing shot was stabbed clear by the keeper. Maffe's counterattacks created a good chance for A. Muñoz on the right after 37 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar. GARI will have to do without G. Mura for a time, due to a bad foot injury at the 38 minute mark. He was substituted by N. Endasa. The home side's G. Cacicia came close to extending the lead 39 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but B. Labaume managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. 2 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by GARI, with 52 percent of the ball.

It wasn't a good day at all for J. Sánchez Moreno. His powerful style of play just didn't fit the bill on this warm day. A. Sera left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 60 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. J. Martín Domínguez was the replacement. R. Krog could have increased the lead after 65 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. 68 minutes into the game, GARI's attack got through on the right, but D. Aversano couldn't handle the ball and his feeble kick wound up in the keeper's arms. With clinical precision, the cross from winger N. Issa found its way to F. Zaccone's head, and a screaming header gave Maffe the goal after 77 minutes played. 3 - 0 Confident in their lead, Maffe's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. A great save by keeper B. Labaume after 78 minutes kept the visitors in the game after F. Zaccone struck from the left with a real cannonball. 85 minutes into the match, Maffe's T. Pirlo demonstrated his famed speed as he raced past his marker and passed the ball to F. Zaccone who chipped it in for 4 - 0. Maffe increased the lead as T. Pirlo struck to make the score 5 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. GARI had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.

The most dominating Maffe player was without a doubt T. Pirlo. H. Mundakar was a disappointment, however. Most important GARI player was L. Bradshaw. However, B. Labaume made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 5 - 0.
