12000 spectators arrived at
Purva Arena, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Enzi Mureithi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Tor Wulff and
Balthasar Schaus.
margots decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
They fielded: Pruchniewicz - Baglaev, Nameisis, Oprya, Hansons - Pershakov, Klepakov, Rekuts, Vijups - Holsts, Paegle.
Rauna started off with a 5-3-2 lineup.
Lineup: Koutsomitras - Cīcis, Kunko, Volnov, Martsepp, Brytva - Ilardi, Kerkvliet, Viesturs - Arinos, Rudkevich.
The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when
A. Brytva was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 6 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead!
After 13 minutes,
J. Holsts sprinted between the opposing defenders and squared the ball, but the keeper deflected
E. Paegle's shot.
The guests took the lead 16 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in
U. Rudkevich scoring to make it 0 - 1.
0 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Rauna claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 79 percent.
M. Kerkvliet received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 53 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The Rauna fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
After 65 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
B. Kunko a chance to increase the lead for Rauna, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 3.
After this, you could see that the players of Rauna were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
The visitors'
E. Cīcis took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 75 minutes into the match. 0 - 4 for Rauna.
U. Viesturs increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 5.
Given a free kick in a difficult position after 77 minutes, Rauna tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish.
B. Kunko left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 85 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
S. Beķers was the replacement.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the Rauna coach let
Y. Bogdanov replace
U. Rudkevich after 85 minutes.
A. Brytva wanted to play on, but the Rauna coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 89 minutes into the game by
A. Ūdris.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Rauna, with 80 percent of the ball.
Y. Klepakov performed admirably for margots.
V. Oprya was a disappointment, however.
Rauna's top performer was clearly
M. Kerkvliet.
A. Ūdris turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 0 - 5.
