previous 2/10 next 4/10  Sanjo 3 - 1 Hospitalense (367353901)

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 55897 had shown up at Sanjostadium for the match. Diego Pascual Medrano was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Daniel Borgen and Mário Maldonado. Sanjo started off with a 2-5-3 lineup. Lineup: Arnoux - Homann, Verbeke - Hansen, Jovic, Ricci, Lorentzen, Leyva Prado - Cherubini, Brodov, Bardill.

Hospitalense decided to use a 4-5-1 set up. Starters: Sánchez - Scheraggi, Brinkkemper, Baeten, Gothland - Cambra, Tsafatidis, Baños, Andersson, Berg - Castrodeza.

Hospitalense clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. Many thought R. Brodov ought to have been awarded a penalty 4 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around M. Sánchez after a determined run through the middle. 13 minutes into the game, N. Tsafatidis almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. With 34 minutes played G. Cherubini almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide. Good work by the Hospitalense defensive line after 35 minutes produced a good counterattack chance, which cut elegantly down the middle of the pitch and found N. Berg alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide. 40 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Sanjo was R. Brodov. Cheers filled the stadium as R. Hansen broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 2 - 0 to Sanjo. 2 - 0 was the score after the first half. Sanjo enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.

Unhappy with the result so far in the game, the Hospitalense manager used a brief break in play after 55 minutes to give the players new directives. Sanjo managed to extend their lead to 3 - 0 when A. Homann cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Sanjo coach let M. Andres replace H. Bardill after 64 minutes. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Hospitalense's D. Scheraggi was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 65 minutes. E. Pivovarov was given a chance to change things around. P. Arnoux left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 70 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. O. Baiano was the replacement. After 70 minutes, Hospitalense switched I. Baeten with H. Zoffmann, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. The visitors replied 78 minutes into the game, reducing the home side's lead to 3 - 1, as E. Pivovarov dashed up the middle, easily lobbing the ball over the home team's keeper. Hospitalense breathed new life into the game with an opportunity to reduce the score after 82 minutes, but the home side's defenders cleared the ball on the line, after a long shot coming in from the left rebounded off the crossbar. G. Cherubini almost put Sanjo ahead another goal when he curled a free kick over the defensive wall and almost into the net, but the visitors' keeper got there just in time to knock it wide. Sanjo had most of the ball, with 62 percent of possession.

The most dominating Sanjo player was without a doubt R. Brodov. However, O. Baiano made a disastrous appearance. Most important Hospitalense player was D. Castrodeza. H. Zoffmann was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 1.
