50707 spectators had come to
Kisho Kurokawa Stadium this cloudy day.
Flávio Aranha was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ivan Arcos and
Tommi Ketonen.
Kungfusion decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Jeon - Colom, Canares, Johansen - Ciprián, Jiménez Quirós, Pedrique, Phúc Thiền, Deflandre - Al-Sulaiti, Monteiro Marques.
Scorpiones started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Lineup: Velunza - Rendón, Lorente, Vargas - Prades, Coego, Marí, Amirola, Giménez - Mila, Cervela.
Given a free kick in a difficult position after 7 minutes, Kungfusion tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish.
Many thought
T. Phúc Thiền ought to have been awarded a penalty 8 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around
D. Velunza after a determined run through the middle.
In a rapid move 19 minutes into the match,
A. Prades of Scorpiones lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked
M. Cervela who easily hit it home to make it 0 - 1. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy!
The referee showed Kungfusion's
I. Johansen the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
The crowd chanted their encouragement as Kungfusion's
L. Deflandre came in from the right after 25 minutes and put the ball in the net to level the score at 1 - 1.
After 26 minutes, Kungfusion's
L. Deflandre fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit!
Kungfusion took the lead 35 minutes into the game by 2 - 1, as
H. Al-Sulaiti elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar.
Scorpiones's
A. Amirola was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 36 minutes.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
R. Jiménez Quirós from Kungfusion a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 38 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Kungfusion had to make a substitution after 40 minutes.
I. Johansen limped off the field and was replaced by
E. Sleiman.
It was 2 - 1 at the break.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Kungfusion, with 61 percent of the ball.
Kungfusion put themselves up 3 - 1 when
H. Al-Sulaiti broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
After this, you could see that the players of Kungfusion were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
A. Amirola could've grabbed a goal for Scorpiones 56 minutes in when he got a pass from the left putting him free of the home side's defence, but he was unable to take advantage of the situation.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Kungfusion to 4 - 1 as
T. Phúc Thiền finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
The Kungfusion players could smell victory in the air.
D. Jeon wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
C. Mourinho after 58 minutes.
After 61 minutes,
H. Al-Sulaiti put Kungfusion ahead 5 - 1 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
H. Al-Sulaiti.
Given a free kick close to the byline, Kungfusion tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let
E. Sleiman slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 6 - 1, 63 minutes into the game.
A. Marí rose like a salmon, and was very close to scoring with a header after a corner, but sent the ball just over the bar.
Kungfusion managed to extend their lead to 7 - 1 when
R. Jiménez Quirós cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
Kungfusion had most of the ball, with 63 percent of possession.
The most dominating Kungfusion player was without a doubt
H. Al-Sulaiti.
However,
C. Mourinho made a disastrous appearance.
Scorpiones's best player was
M. Cervela.
D. Velunza was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 7 - 1.
