(367451886)

31-03-2012 15.00
It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 35558 that came out to
Maracena City Stadium.
Waldemar Baldas was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Adam Versteeg and
Pelle Flyvbjerg.
Maracena had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
The following players took the field: Wegelius - Fiedler, Tachau, Vlček - Santiago, Ahedo, Rettich, Altounyan, Gándara - Dujardin, Albano.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Chipis.
The following players had been chosen: Boira - Cozmescu, Ilarratza, Vasa - Lezcano, Whitehand, Kurmann, Olmos, Hapău - Yiantsios, Irigoyen.
It seemed as though Maracena considered the game won before even taking the field, which resulted in a very uninspired start to the game.
Maracena broke through on the left 2 minutes into the game, with
T. Tachau firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead.
The Maracena free kick 22 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
V. Dujardin, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 2 - 0!
After this, you could see that the players of Maracena were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
The score became 3 - 0 at 24 minutes into the game, when Maracena were given a penalty which
P. Gándara blasted straight down the middle giving the keeper no chance!
C. Fiedler enjoyed the sunshine and demonstrated his stunning technique over and over again.
C. Rettich increased the lead for Maracena to 4 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
The teams went for the halftime break at 4 - 0.
Maracena had most of the ball, with 85 percent of possession.
Cheers filled the stadium as
A. Altounyan broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 5 - 0 to Maracena.
T. Tachau wasn't much help defensively. His energy-consuming forward runs proved quite costly in the oppressive heat.
After 81 minutes,
E. Ahedo put Maracena ahead 6 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
V. Dujardin unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide.
P. Gándara increased Maracena's lead to 7 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball.
Maracena made it 8 - 0 as
C. Fiedler got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to
A. Altounyan who whipped a low drive in off the far post.
84 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
A. Altounyan broke through, making the score 9 - 0 for Maracena.
By then
A. Altounyan had scored three goals - a hat trick!
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Maracena, with 88 percent of the ball.
Maracena's best player was
V. Dujardin.
T. Tachau on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Most important Chipis player was
M. Boira.
However,
T. Kurmann made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 9 - 0.
